Wax Carve a Domed/Signet Silver Ring

Level - Beginner/Intermediate

Duration - 3 Hours

Join Aberdeen based Jeweller Megan Falconer in this three hour workshop where you will wax carve a silver signet ring/domed ring. During the workshop Megan will lead you through the steps to create your own style of domed ring in jewellers carving wax. The wax ring you carve during the workshop will then be sent to a casting company to be cast in recycled sterling silver (lost wax casting process). You will then collect your ring once it’s cast and cleaned up a couple of weeks after the workshop.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners but also for people who have attended jewellery making workshops previously as this workshop will build on traditional techniques. You will learn a range of wax working techniques from filing and sawing to pattern making and detail work in order to carve your ring. You will have the opportunity to design your own signet/domed ring or take inspiration from one of our sample designs. Examples will be provided at the beginning of the workshop to provide inspiration for your ring. See images for examples of previous students work.

Where?

The workshop will take place at my NEW studio at Woolmill, Craigievar, Alford, AB33 8JE. There is free parking at the studios.

Workshop is limited to 5 spaces. Suitable for adults. All you need to bring with you is glasses if you need them for close up work and please wear workshop appropriate clothing (no open toe shoes).
